eKow Online now supports Ogre army list

eKow Online now supports the Ogre army list release by Mantic Games this week.
The Android version of eKow will be updated in upcoming weeks

 

The Ogre army list is available on the drop down list in the upper left corner

eKow online 3.5 released (with magical items!)

eKow online now supports magical items!, you can select them from the bottom of the unit's details.

• The system will show you just the available items for the unit you are watching, so something available just for heroes will not be shown for an infantry troop

• If you select one of the magic artefacts available in the free rulebook you will see also it's description, for everything else not available as a free download you will just see the name and the cost.

• the magical artefact are also printed in the .pdf export next to the unit

• the artefact are available just in the online tool http://www.mentemeccanica.com/eKow/, the android app will be updated as soon as possible

Known issues:

• there are some problems with items just available to individual heroes, when an hero looses the individual status (for example buying a fliying mount) the artefact is still available and it shouldn't!

• after removing an unit with an artefact assigned it does not immediately appear on the list in the central panel, you have to reload the unit selecting it from the right panel

eKow 3.01 just released

eKow 3.01 has just been released, I did some changes from the most recent FAQs: 

- Ogre shooter cannot have either the musician or the banner 
- a single Fight Wagon or Ogre chariot can have the musician and/or the banner

eKow 3.00 just released

The updated version of eKow was sitting on my PC for a couple of months now! Since it seems that Mantic is about to release the army lists for free so I'm uploading the updated version for everyone

Both the online and the android version now supports Kings of War 3ed edition rules, there are also some technical changes (described in previous post) that should make both apps more useful.

eKow3 release details

I'm doing some changes in eKow3 for both Android and the online website, the changes will rollout once Kings of War 3 army lists will be made public by mantic.

Online website:

• The online website will be much quicker, lots of logic is moved on the browser side now so it will be quicker even on slow interent connections
• Some changes in the graphical interface (i.e. less ugly)
• Support for Magical Artifcats (this will be posponed on a later relase but definitely done)

Android app:

• The Android app will have some performance tuning especially during the loading of the army lists
• Some changes in the graphical interface in order to better support yout fancy tablets (see below an example)
• Some changes in the functional design, you can now add more of the same unit (with the same equipments) quickly just keep tapping the Add button
• Support for Magical Artifcats (this will be posponed on a later relase but definitely done)
• Some of this stuff will be done initially just for KoW, changes for Warpath will come later

eKow 2.0 coming this week

I'm finalizing the changes for the version 2.0 of Kings of War that Mantic games released last month. The new version of eKow will be released sometimes this week both on the Android platform and on the online version.

The changes will involve:

• new units for Undead, Elves, Dwarfs, Abyssal Dwarfs and Orcs
• 2 new army lists: Kingdom of Men and Hoblins
• new abilities added to the Tome of Knowledge
  

about KoW army list update

As you might already know Mantic released this month an updated version of the Kings of War rules and the related army lists.
Right now the updated rules are available just as a printed booklet you can buy from their store, as soon as they will release a downloadable version of them for free I will update both the android app and the online army creator tool.

Rules hints now available in eKow online

I just added some rules hints to eKow online, hovering the mouse over an option will prompt some information about that particular game rule (see the example below). It works only on html5 compatible browsers.

I just updated eKow Online, now both the list of available units and the list of selected units show a preview of the unit's stats.

eKoW Online tutorial

Here you can find some guidelines about how to use the tool

(1) this panel makes possible to chose the race and the maximum amount of points, when you made your choice just click on the button. Be carfeul, any selections you made so far on the

(2) this panel shows the list of the available units for the race selected at step 1, it also show the base cost of an unit and it might display some icons like (!), (!!) or (!!!). Such Icons tells that you need to perform some actions before being able to add the unit to your list units with (!) can't be added because there are not enough point left units with (!!) can't be added because you need one more solid unit in the army list units with (!!!) can't be added because they are unique and they have been already included in the list Once you made your choice selecting a unit just click on the button below to see the unit's details You can see the unit details even if the unit has some icons next to it, you just won't be able to add it the the army list.

(3) this panel shows the stats of the unit, on the bottom you can see all the options that can be selected for a given unit. If you want to enable an option click on the corresponding checkbox and then on the button "update unit cost" in order to update the cost and the unit's stat based on your option selection. Some checkboxes are disabled, it means that you can't select them. Some boxes are already checked by default (for example racial abilities that are always enabled) Once you update the unit cost click on "add the unit" so that your unit will be added to the army list

(4) this panel shows the units you selected so far, if you want to remove a unit select it and click on the button remove the unit, units here can show the same icons explained before in step 2, if some units in this list have an icon next to the name it means that the army list is not valid If you want to print your army list click on "export army list" button, a new window will be displayed showing the army list.

(5) the last panel shows some warning or error messages (for example when you try to add a unit and you don't have enought points)

eKow Online available now!

I just released a very first version of eKow Online, there are some pending changes that I will make in next weeks but the core of the tool is already there.
I'm going also to write down some sort of tutorial in order to explain how to build an army list anyway it should be easy enough to try on your own.
I'm still going to support the Android version of eKow and I'm planning to update them in parallel since they use the same data structure.

Some general info:

• Supported Races are Dwarfs, Abyssal Dwarfs, Elves, Orcs, Undead and the just released Twilight Kin.
• It is not possible to save an army list but you can print it once you clink on the export army list button
• I'm still tweaking the website so the tool might be unavailable for some time between now and the next weekend
